Dusseldorf
Dusseldorf offers cultural highlights and many intersting sights.
Apart from several theatres and museums the city also features a wealth of venues for music, exhibitions and architectural highlights. One of the most interesting theatres is the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. It stages not only operas but also operettas and ballets. For those who like it humorous, there is the oldest cabaret theatre Germany’s as well. Das Kom(m)ödchen has been founded 1946 and is part of the Kunsthalle (Art Hall) Dusseldorf.
Castle Benrath
Castle Benrath is the tourist attraction. The summerhouse and hunting lodge was built by elector Karl Theodor more than 200 years ago in the south of Dusseldorf. The late Baroque ensemble of Palace and Park is considered one of the most important of its kind.
A journey through the epochs
Dusseldorf received the reputation as an art city very early due to paintings by the famous collection of the Elector Jan Wellem. Today, especially the Art Academy and the many museums form the artistic life of the city.
Modern & Trendy – the media harbour
Appetite for fancy buildings? The media port is a successful example of modern urban development. It is superb primarily through the imaginative architecture and a wide variety of restaurants offer. An ideal starting point for a port tour is the Rhine Tower with its breathtaking view over the city.
Chic & Green – the Königsallee
The Königsallee, called Kö, is considered one of the world’s most beautiful boulevards. Divided by the long moat the characteristics of the boulevard are over 200 trees and the image of an exclusive shopping mile mark. Sculptures, decorative fountains and bridges connect the two sides of the Königsallee. While on the west side are mostly banks, you can find fine boutiques on the east side, galleries and shopping malls at the heart of shopping friends beat. If you are not on your own on the Koe stroll, you can also participate in a guided tour.
Dusseldorf – Old Town
Almost everyone knows it: the legendary Old Town of Dusseldorf. Its streets, squares and the Rhine promenade with many cafes and beer gardens are transformed in a large outdoor terrace especially in summer . The Old Town is more than an amusement district: Numerous churches, historic buildings and museums are worth a visit!
